About City of Knox

Knox city is located 20 to 25 km away towards the southeast of Melbourne amongst its eastern suburbs and southwards to the City of Maroondah. The Yarra Ranges is located in the east, and the City of Casey is in the south. It is bounded by the City of Monash, the City of Whitehorse, and the City of Greater Dandenong from the west side.

The Dandenong Creek is situated towards the north-west the western border of the Dandenong Ranges National Park also surrounds the area. Knox is well connected to the other parts of the state through an extensive network of roads. The Burwood Highway, Royal Street, Wynette Avenue, George Street, Victoria Ridge, Fern Road, New Road, Glenfern Road, and Lysterfield Road facilitate transportation.

After World War II, the development spree near the areas close to Melbourne led to rapid urbanization and population increase. In 1961, over 21,000 residents occupied the Knox area, and in 2020, the city had a population of 165,147, and one-fifth of the people here are non-English speakers.
